VIS Line Scanner
High-resolution visible-band line scanner for

The OPTIMARE VIS Line Scanner acquires high-resolution, geo-referenced visible-band imagery from airborne platforms. It provides the photographic context layer that complements radar and IR/UV data in the MEDUSA® mission suite, supporting scene documentation, vessel identification, and coastal mapping.

The photographic context layer for maritime missions

The VIS Line Scanner provides the visible-band imagery that gives operators photographic context alongside radar and thermal data. High-resolution geo-referenced images support vessel identification, scene documentation, and coastal mapping. The scanner operates in push-broom mode, producing continuous strip imagery that is co-registered with SLAR and IR/UV data in the MEDUSA® display. Imagery is stored on-board and can be downlinked in real time for immediate analysis.

Capabilities

What the VIS Line Scanner does

High-resolution imagery

Sub-metre resolution at typical survey altitudes for vessel and scene identification.

Geo-referenced output

All imagery is geo-referenced and co-registered with radar and IR/UV data.

Scene documentation

Provides photographic evidence for enforcement, reporting, and post-mission analysis.

Vessel identification

Resolution sufficient for vessel type identification and registration reading.

Coastal mapping

Continuous strip imagery supports coastal and shoreline mapping applications.

MEDUSA® integration

Imagery is displayed alongside radar and thermal layers in the MEDUSA® console.
