System overview

One operator layer across the entire mission lifecycle

MEDUSA® is a network-based mission management system designed for advanced data acquisition and processing in airborne maritime surveillance. It integrates multiple remote sensors and mission system components into a user-friendly framework that supports the full mission lifecycle — from pre-flight planning through live operations to post-flight analysis and reporting.

Built on over 20 years of operational experience with coastguards, navies, and environmental agencies worldwide, MEDUSA® is the mission layer that keeps crews focused on the mission rather than the system.

Capabilities

What MEDUSA® does

Eight integrated capabilities covering the full mission lifecycle — from pre-flight planning to post-flight reporting.

Mission planning

Pre-flight mission setup including route planning, search pattern definition, sensor task assignment, and crew briefing. Plans can be updated in real time during flight.

Live visualization

Unified operator display showing aircraft position, sensor footprints, detected targets, AIS vessel tracks, and weather overlays on a geo-referenced map.

Multi-sensor fusion

Simultaneous control and display of 2 to 12+ sensor feeds — SLAR, IR/UV, VIS, EO/IR, AIS, and third-party payloads — in a single operator console.

Sensor control

Centralised control of all connected sensors from the MEDUSA® operator console. Sensor modes, recording, and tasking are managed without switching between separate systems.

Data recording & management

All sensor data, operator annotations, and mission events are recorded synchronously with GPS time-stamping for post-flight analysis and legal documentation.

Ground downlink

Real-time data downlink to ground stations via satellite, VHF/UHF datalink, or broadband. Ground operators receive the same situational picture as the airborne crew.

Post-flight analysis

Automated scene analysis, oil spill classification, GIS export, and mission report generation. Outputs are formatted for environmental agencies and enforcement authorities.

AIS integration

AIS vessel tracking is fused with radar and optical sensor data to correlate detected targets with known vessels — supporting enforcement and SAR operations.
